Yuké

El Laberinto de Yuké is an adaptation of the production design of Guillermo del Toro's Pan's Labyrinth. The story has been relocated from post-war Spain to Puerto Rico in 1950, during the Nationalist Insurrection known as the Grito de Jayuya.
While the original film's visual universe was preserved in structure, it was entirely translated into Puerto Rican territory, history, and the era's imagery. The project envisioned three key locations designed to be built in Tenerife: Anaga Park is the labyrinth; the Cueva del Viento is the Pale Man's cave; and the Blanca Canales House is a deliberate irony, conceived from scratch at the Plató del Atlántico.
This historic symbol of Puerto Rican nationalist resistance has been repurposed as the military command centre of the story. Every spatial and design decision draws on native animals, 1950s rural mountain architecture and Taíno symbolism. The result is a visual universe that belongs entirely to Puerto Rico.
